2024 Lexus RX Air Filter in Hingham, MA

The 2024 Lexus RX engine air filter sits in the engine bay inside a sealed airbox connected to the intake duct.

This rectangular housing is easy to identify with clips or screws securing the lid; opening it reveals the pleated filter that protects the turbocharged 2.4L inline-4. In Hingham, MA, road dust, coastal air, and seasonal debris can load the filter more quickly, so periodic inspections are smart. If you’re unsure, our team can confirm location during a quick under-hood check.

• Mounted in a plastic airbox near the front of the engine bay
• Connected to the intake duct feeding the turbocharged 2.4L engine
• Access typically involves unclipping or unscrewing the airbox lid

The 2024 Lexus RX cabin air filter is typically located behind the glove box within the HVAC intake housing.

Access usually involves lowering or removing the glove box to reach the rectangular filter tray. Because Massachusetts pollen seasons are strong and coastal humidity is common around Hingham, a clean cabin filter helps maintain airflow and reduce odors. If trim removal isn’t your preference, our technicians can replace it and verify HVAC operation during your visit.

• Behind the glove box in the HVAC filter slot
• Requires glove box access and removal of a small cover
• A fresh filter supports HVAC airflow and odor control

The engine air filter cleans air for combustion, while the cabin air filter cleans air for passengers through the HVAC system.

On the 2024 Lexus RX, the engine filter protects the turbocharged 2.4L by trapping particulate before it reaches the intake, supporting performance and efficiency. The cabin filter captures dust, pollen, and debris that enter the HVAC intake, improving in-cabin air quality—a real benefit during Hingham’s pollen peaks. Both filters do different jobs and should be serviced separately.

• Engine filter: protects the turbo 2.4L intake path
• Cabin filter: improves passenger air quality via HVAC
• Different locations, service steps, and inspection points

Common signs include reduced power, lower fuel economy, or a rough idle for the engine filter, and weak HVAC airflow or musty odors for the cabin filter.

Massachusetts’ leaf debris and road dust can load filters faster, especially with mixed suburban and highway driving around Hingham and Quincy. If your 2024 Lexus RX feels sluggish under acceleration or the climate control struggles to push air, inspect both filters. Addressing early symptoms protects the turbocharged intake system and keeps your interior comfortable.

• Engine: hesitation, decreased MPG, induction noise changes
• Cabin: reduced airflow, persistent odors, increased fogging
• Visual check: darkened, debris-laden pleats signal replacement

Yes—many owners can DIY the engine filter, while the cabin filter often requires glove box access that some prefer a technician to handle.

Hingham experiences heavy spring pollen and leafy debris in fall, which can quickly saturate the cabin filter. A fresh filter supports HVAC performance and in-cabin comfort for your 2024 Lexus RX. If recent construction or dusty roads are part of your route, consider an engine filter inspection at the same visit.
